COPENHAGEN DAY 7/HOME: Last Day

"- Not to have had to stop for gas and heard the sad, two-noted, wooden tune of disparate wooden clogs carelessly clacking over a grease-stained filling-station floor."

-Elizabeth Bishop, https://www.poemhunter.com/poem/questions-of-travel/

This morning, I slept in until about noon, got a sandwich and an amazing marzipan thing at a café, practiced singing to start learning some songs for the master class in New Jersey I start in 2 days, and packed for my trip home. On the street, I saw decorated open-back trucks go past with teenagers screaming and chanting. I am guessing that they were celebrating graduating from High School, but I’m not certain.

On my way to the airport, I visited Josefin at the hospital to return her keys and say goodbye. I accidentally snuck into the Kidney wing and she gave me a very brief tour, showing me the spectacular view of Copenhagen from the 13th floor window. After hugging goodbye, I made my way to the airport.

As I type this, I am flying over the Atlantic, kind of between Canada and Greenland. They have a 3D map on our screens and I am having fun exploring it, looking at all the places I haven’t been yet and planning my next trip, which I hope will be soon.

Tonight, I am thrilled to be home for the last few hours of my Mom’s 50th birthday. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful person in my life, and I can’t wait to wish her happy birthday in person.

Tomorrow, I plan to do one more blog post where I write some final thoughts and include a list of the stuff I bought on my trip.
